Thor Schrock is a man with an entrepreneurial spirit who has successfully built Nebraska’s #1 Computer Repair company. In the most challenging economic times or situations, Thor always seems to find the opportunity to improve on products, services, and his customers’ experiences.
While the majority of Thor’s time and attention is directed toward the management and growth of Schrock’s three locations (Omaha, Lincoln, and Papillion) he has also managed some side projects that sometimes are and sometimes are not related to the computer repair or internet marketing fields:
- Hosts two weekly terrestrial radio call-in shows
- Designs email marketing campaigns and management systems
- Designs Modular computer Systems
- Website business model consulting
- Small business marketing strategy and execution
- Direct mail marketing
- Video filming, editing, and production
- Event planing and execution
- Coordination with local and state governments
Brick and Mortar Success – Schrock Innovations Computer Company
May of these skills were utilized in the development of his first brick-and-mortar business, Schrock Innovations Computer Company. Under Thor’s leadership, his company has been voted Best of Lincoln, Best of Omaha, and Nebraska Retail Federation’s Service Business of the Year despite several aggressive competitors.
Thor grew Schrock Innovations from a home-based sole proprietorship into a multimillion enterprise with over 18,396 customers and clients in Nebraska alone. In an economy where many businesses were cutting back, Schrock innovations expanded aggressively in 2010 and 2011 growing from one to three locations, tripling the number of its employees, deploying an independent data center, and quadrupling its marketing budget.
As competitors were cutting budgets, Schrock was making the case to new customers that Schrock ‘s services were better.
In addition to new locations, additional products and services were created at Schrock over the past two years to better serve and protect our customers and clients. Some of these products and services include:
- Advanced Website Design & Hosting
- Remote PC, iPod, Droid, and Blackberry support
- Corporate Service Agreements
- Secure Updater Software
- Adaptive Intelligence Technology
- Safe and Stored Backup System
Unique Marketing Approaches Bring Local Market Domination
Schrock’s transformation was achieved through unique marketing efforts and the providing service levels that no other computer repair company has been willing to match. The cornerstone of the company’s marketing turnaround is a one-hour broadcast radio show called Compute This.
Thor started the hour-long radio program on KFOR 1240 in Lincoln and on 1110 KFAB in Omaha. Compute This is the top-rated program in its time slot, even beating out FM music stations. The show has grown so much over the past few years that other companies seek advertising space within the show.
The show provides Thor a unique opportunity to help callers with immediate computer problems, deliver interesting technology news, and sneak in some marketing tidbits that explain how Schrock can make the technology lives of listeners easier.
Online Success – Top Affiliate Challenge Reality Show
In 2008 Thor developed, produced and marketed the first affiliate-marketing online reality show. Top Affiliate Challenge relocated contestants from around the globe to Lincoln, NE for 2 weeks to promote various products and services online to earn commissions.
The show generated over $70,000 in commissions from sales in only 2 weeks and attracted more than 1 million viewers who wanted to see how the contestants worked their magic.
Awards and Recognition
In 2005 Thor’s entrepreneurial success and drive to help people was recognized when the Lincoln Business Journal honored him as one of the top 40 business people under the age of 40 in Lincoln, NE.
Thor also managed to advance as the second runner-up of the Next Internet Millionaire web reality show competition. The show was hosted by Joel Comm in Colorado and featured some of the best Internet marketing minds in the business. The teachings from the show were packaged into a DVD set that was made available to those who were not on the show. Acting as an affiliate, Thor used his skills to sell more copies of the DVD set than even the teachers from the show were able to sell.
Thor’s writing also caught the attention of Smart Computing Magazine, who hired him to author several articles on PC-related topics for its readers. Smart Computing is distributed throughout the United States as well as in several countries in Europe.
Recently Thor was nominated at Nebraska’s Small Businessman of the Year for 2012.
Thor When He is Off-Duty
Even with all of this going on, Thor manages to spend quality time with his wife Kimberly and their son Jacob working on their home, playing in the yard, or just enjoying some quiet time together – no computers involved.
